Again and again, we are confronted with supposed “compliments”, “jokes” or “just friendly intended interest”. Underneath discriminatory thought patterns, stereotypes and gender-based violence are often hidden. Too many times these situations leave us feeling speechless, paralyzed, helpless and with a lingering feeling of anger. That is why we want to meet and together channel these emotions into action.
In a protected atmosphere, we want to work through situations, in which you have felt uncomfortable or harassed in the hospital, in the lab, in lectures and seminars etc.
By sharing our experiences, we want to give each other confidence for upcoming situations and develop and practice possible strategies to deal with discrimination on a systemic and personal level.
Your workshop facilitators are Jacqueline and Anna. We are activists and freshly graduated medical doctors. We founded the anti-discrimination platform “Sayit” and have been working within the field of antidiscrimination for several years. Our goal is to make power structures visible and, if we can’t abolish them (yet ;-)), at least build alliances and create alternative structures and community support systems.
The workshop is focused on gender discrimination (sexism). But because sexism doesn’t occur isolated and our lived experiences aren’t the same, we want to create a space for broader and cross-cutting (intersectional) experiences of discrimination.
The workshop will take place in English and German, the number of participants is limited to 15.
Please register via the form down below. If you have any questions or if there is something we should be aware of, please send us an email at .
It is important for us to emphasize that everyone can be affected by sexism. However, we have decided to exclude cis men from this workshop. We do this to provide a safe space and to acknowledge the fact that perpetrators of gender-based violence are mostly cis men.
